Cold crystal clear water rises up from the ground and flows down the mountain sides of Brasstown Bald and to the rivers Hiwassee, Tennessee, Ohio, Mississippi, and finally into the Gulf of Mexico. This is the water you drink, swim and bathe in, and eventually ocean creatures will live in. The above photo, water flows from Brasstown Bald (in the background) and into Lake Chatuge where the City of Hiawassee withdraws water to treat and provide public water supply.

How does your daily life affect the quality our water? Come find out from the MountainTrue Western Regional Director's walk & talk program “Forest to Faucets.” If you would like to walk the short, but very steep trail up to the Visitor's Center, you should plan to start 20-30 minutes in advance. Otherwise, you may take the shuttle. The group will meet at approximately 11:00 AM at the upper observation deck of the tower. After a program at the tower, the group will walk down the trail and visit the spring that provides water for the facilities on Brasstown Bald.
